All – ALL – informations on display are on EVF; Nikon has a mirror and this makes all difference, cutting any image or info when shooting; the only poblem with NX30 evf is the frame rate when making movies For killing the Nikon ovf, nx30 is protuding, which is the most for pictures or movies!

Sorry i can’t compare to high end which i have not used. I have been using Nikon D for past 7 months. Viewfinder gets completely washed out if sun is too bright. Anyone else having this problem? It’s not much different, but enough for me to chose the d over the d A far superior option would be the d refurb. It has many more features to grow into for just a little more size and weight. They do Not have the flip out screen! I have a flip screen on my d, but rarely use it, and need it even less. The bodies that offer motor drive af and metering for non af lenses open up a ton of options for you in the used lens market.

Lots of great glass available for cheap. The d5xxx series do not meter old non af lenses. So if you want an easy option to go a bit retro, the d7xxx is the way to go. If you plan on only af-s g lenses, then d5xxx is excellent. I have a D and I am considering the D instead of a D7xxx series camera in large part due to the flip screen. I frequently use my camera on a copy stand or a tripod at a variety of angles, so I really like that feature.

The D7xxx series has, I understand, weather sealing but that is not so essential for me. It’s just a real shame that Nikon hasn’t come up with a wide, standard and small tele light pancakes primes of quality. That’s what they need to do, if they want to resist the mirrorless tide. Because when you put the beautiful sony 55mm FE lens on top of an A7, you loose all the compactness advantage of mirrorless.

The only big plus of mirrorless are the EVF. My D arrived today, and it is at least as small as all the reviewers say, and in my hands seems even smaller. The controls are proportionately small, and are not placed in a manner that’s especially intuitive. I was willing to work around size, and ergonomics, but the limited function touch screen, and slow AF were what changed my mind about keeping it.

Having to exit out of Live View, or the dashboard to make fundamental changes to ISO, aperature, etc. The AF was mostly accurate, but seemed slow indoors. When you go into live view, you will see the ISO and F-stop displayed.

If you press the Fn. You can see the screen brighten and darken as you change. For the F-stop, just turn the dial. ISO is again adjustable via Fn. I will probably try the For video basically. I am considering almost the exact same thing. D or T6s although my purpose is for landscapes, vacations and indoor sports.

The D doesn’t have the anti-aliasing filter which makes d have sharper images than the T6s only slightly noticeable but the D is cheaper, has greater color depth, wider dynamic range and lower noise at high iso. I will probably go with the T6s, the D has more focus points which doesn’t really bother me and both can shoot at 5 fps.

Because I’ve already invested in Canon I will probably leave the D on the shelf. I have gone the DSLR route owing a D which was stolen and later a D but found both a hassle to take on vacation with the kids.

Got a Panasonic GX1 and have been happy ever since. Much smaller and lighter and the image quality was just as good. If you are traveling with the sole purpose of photography then the Nikon or Cannon will be great, but for me personally I found using a big and bulky camera separated me from the experiences and people that I was traveling to be with in the first place. Using DX lenses: I still use my DX lens with the d and right now am very happy with the results. I have my custom button set to switch between FX, 1. Past its widest settings I like to use this lens in the 1. I have a 27″ imac an on this size screen I cannot tell the difference between a 15mp dx cropped image and a 36mp full frame image but for large prints it may make a difference.

One thing I do love about shooting the full 36mp resolution however is penalty free cropping. I had to be careful on my 12mp d about not cropping to much and loosing image quality but now I will crop out half of a 36mp file still be floored by the amout of detail. Overall I see no problem with using my DX lenses with the new camera and actually enjoy the added flexibility and creative potential they provide.

I sometimes enjoy the circular image the creates at its widest setting at the FX crop. Before, I would shoot my d up to ISO and be completely satisfied with noise, dynamic range, and color quality. With the d I can now bump up to ISO and be completely satisfied with image quality. In low light situations I find bumping the d to ISO is about as high as I am willing to go before the image quality starts to degrade significantly. Auto ISO works much better and is easier to setup.

Files are very detail but you can definitely see the effects of the anti aliasing filter and sometimes I wish I had sprung for the dE. By default RAW images are not especially sharp and I almost always need to bump up the sharpness in software.

On a positive note in the thousands of pictures I have shot I have yet to see moire. Metering: I find that the metering is much better on the d than d I rarely switch away from multizone metering as it is just very good at figuring out the scene and I dont have to use a lot of exposure compensation either. Having a button to quickly pull up live veiw is great! Although live view focusing still leaves quite a bit to be desired it will eventually find focus in most lighting situations.

Auto focus: About the same as the d Fast and dependable as long as you can find a point with good contrast to lock onto. Overall: I am very happy with my d purchase. I recently purchased the 50mm 1.

If I could think of a complaint I would say the Live View focusing could be better, and the battery life is not quite as good as my old d which was just insane. The build quality is also just a tiny notch below the d but overall feels very professional. The rear screen on the d is great and I have not had any color tint problems. The left focus problems that have plagued so many other users has not been an issue for me.

I would say everything about the ds image quality is a step better than the d and the main thing it has been doing for me is allowing me to shoot more freely. I shoot looser crops because I know I can always crop in without losing quality, and I rarely worry about how high I have take my ISO which used to be a constant worry with the d I debated for a long time which camera would suit be best as an upgrade for my d I went between waiting for a d successor, getting a used d, slimming down with an OMD-E5, buying a d or going for the d A direct d successor would have been nice but the added depth of field with full frame was a big decider for me as I shoot a lot of portraits.

The OMD would be great but I am already pretty heavily invested in Nikon glass and was not ready to compromise on low light image quality. For me the d was just to plasticy and I was not happy with the control setup. In the end I am very happy with my decision although every once and a while when I am shooting landscapes I wish I had gone for the de. I was looking for something with a few more megapixels then my current camera when I came across this used D Nikon body.

When I buy something used I never know what’s going to show up so I keep the bar of expectation kinda low. And since I had 30 days to return it I figured I’d give it a shot. I frequently use my camera on a copy stand or a tripod at a variety of angles, so I really like that feature. The D7xxx series has, I understand, weather sealing but that is not so essential for me.

It’s just a real shame that Nikon hasn’t come up with a wide, standard and small tele light pancakes primes of quality. That’s what they need to do, if they want to resist the mirrorless tide. Because when you put the beautiful sony 55mm FE lens on top of an A7, you loose all the compactness advantage of mirrorless.

The only big plus of mirrorless are the EVF. My D arrived today, and it is at least as small as all the reviewers say, and in my hands seems even smaller.

The controls are proportionately small, and are not placed in a manner that’s especially intuitive. I was willing to work around size, and ergonomics, but the limited function touch screen, and slow AF were what changed my mind about keeping it. Having to exit out of Live View, or the dashboard to make fundamental changes to ISO, aperature, etc.

The AF was mostly accurate, but seemed slow indoors. When you go into live view, you will see the ISO and F-stop displayed. If you press the Fn. You can see the screen brighten and darken as you change. For the F-stop, just turn the dial. ISO is again adjustable via Fn. I will probably try the For video basically. I am considering almost the exact same thing. D or T6s although my purpose is for landscapes, vacations and indoor sports.

The D doesn’t have the anti-aliasing filter which makes d have sharper images than the T6s only slightly noticeable but the D is cheaper, has greater color depth, wider dynamic range and lower noise at high iso. I will probably go with the T6s, the D has more focus points which doesn’t really bother me and both can shoot at 5 fps.

Because I’ve already invested in Canon I will probably leave the D on the shelf. I have gone the DSLR route owing a D which was stolen and later a D but found both a hassle to take on vacation with the kids. Got a Panasonic GX1 and have been happy ever since. Much smaller and lighter and the image quality was just as good.

If you are traveling with the sole purpose of photography then the Nikon or Cannon will be great, but for me personally I found using a big and bulky camera separated me from the experiences and people that I was traveling to be with in the first place. I was hoping for the D’s touchscreen to finally rectify this, but it’s still slapped over the same menus, making it a novelty than a real time saving feature unlike on the Canon. On my D, there’s a dedicated ISO button, which I tap, then flick the front dial to change it without taking my eye off the viewfinder.

In short, it’s a consumer level body I can use professionally, whereas with Nikon, I’d have to start with a D at least just to have all the manual controls at my fingertips.

Too bad that you haven’t yet heard of DSLRdashboard, a free Android app that offers wi-fi control of each and every camera setting, but then again, I guess that everyone has a right to freedom of religion. Yes me too! I have a three AF screw lenses they were a gift. Still a newb though. WE ARE waiting for it!!!!! One good viewfinder away from being a really good deal for its class. Pentax historically have pwned in this category- much larger viewfinders in their class. Sorry with EVFs being so good, a lack of a really good optical finder like this is a big issue with me. These small viewfinders rebel cameras too are so half a decade ago old.

Does anyone have any insights on the lack of a front control dial? Surely it can’t cost a great deal? I imagine there are many photographers who would be absolutely fine with the AF, FPS etc of the D, and may not even care about a second LCD, but would have to really consider going up to the D7xxx just for that extra manual control.

I’d like to think it’s not an entirely cynical move, maybe some people are afraid of the extra controls? But honestly can’t those people just keep using auto and ignore an extra dial anyway The reason is they want you to go to the more expensive model for that extra dial.

They try hard to make a distinctive difference between their models. It’s just a software feature. What I ended up doing with the D is dropping the exposure compensation by that amount and then bracketing, which worked fine in most situations.

I sometimes enjoy the circular image the creates at its widest setting at the FX crop. Before, I would shoot my d up to ISO and be completely satisfied with noise, dynamic range, and color quality.

With the d I can now bump up to ISO and be completely satisfied with image quality. In low light situations I find bumping the d to ISO is about as high as I am willing to go before the image quality starts to degrade significantly. Auto ISO works much better and is easier to setup. Files are very detail but you can definitely see the effects of the anti aliasing filter and sometimes I wish I had sprung for the dE. By default RAW images are not especially sharp and I almost always need to bump up the sharpness in software.

On a positive note in the thousands of pictures I have shot I have yet to see moire. Metering: I find that the metering is much better on the d than d I rarely switch away from multizone metering as it is just very good at figuring out the scene and I dont have to use a lot of exposure compensation either. Although live view focusing still leaves quite a bit to be desired it will eventually find focus in most lighting situations. D has better low light performance according to DxOMark. After about 5 months i don’t feel good with this camera. I can say everything is good except AF accuracy. Anyone know the model number of the Sony IMX sensor in the d? It is very impressive and has caused me to retire my d except as a backup camera. I bought one too. I had the opportunity to try the D against the D, and D Canon Competition, and came away with this camera the D as my choice. Mostly for the video. Not in a super hurry for 4K quite yet since most of my friends have p tech, as do I.

The thing that so impressed me was the balance, low weight, excellent touch screen interface, and solid image quality. I want the flat profile to take advantage of the D’s wide dynamic range. I may get the D some day, or the D, but so far, I am not really in a hurry to do so. I bought it today from internet. At ISO grains or noise are not noticeable. I like it because i usually shoot at a small room lit by 1 small white bulb. I tested with a mm NVR plus as small amount of built in flash.

It is much lighter compared to my D, grip is very good and viewfinder is OK to me. Sorry i can’t compare to high end which i have not used.

I have been using Nikon D for past 7 months. Viewfinder gets completely washed out if sun is too bright. Anyone else having this problem? I can’t see a way to adjust brightest of readings in viewfinder. Local camera shop had no clue. Nikon hasn’t answered my question about it either. Is this unique to me? They’re all too close and too varying conditions Really. I am not much into video , So does the price difference between D and D is really worth it.

Also what do you think of buying D over D as I dont think touch screen is useful for me. It’s not much different, but enough for me to chose the d over the d A far superior option would be the d refurb. It has many more features to grow into for just a little more size and weight.

They do Not have the flip out screen! I have a flip screen on my d, but rarely use it, and need it even less. The bodies that offer motor drive af and metering for non af lenses open up a ton of options for you in the used lens market.

Lots of great glass available for cheap. The d5xxx series do not meter old non af lenses. So if you want an easy option to go a bit retro, the d7xxx is the way to go. If you plan on only af-s g lenses, then d5xxx is excellent. I have a D and I am considering the D instead of a D7xxx series camera in large part due to the flip screen. I frequently use my camera on a copy stand or a tripod at a variety of angles, so I really like that feature.

The D7xxx series has, I understand, weather sealing but that is not so essential for me. It’s just a real shame that Nikon hasn’t come up with a wide, standard and small tele light pancakes primes of quality.

That’s what they need to do, if they want to resist the mirrorless tide. Because when you put the beautiful sony 55mm FE lens on top of an A7, you loose all the compactness advantage of mirrorless.

The only big plus of mirrorless are the EVF. My D arrived today, and it is at least as small as all the reviewers say, and in my hands seems even smaller.

The controls are proportionately small, and are not placed in a manner that’s especially intuitive. I was willing to work around size, and ergonomics, but the limited function touch screen, and slow AF were what changed my mind about keeping it.

Having to exit out of Live View, or the dashboard to make fundamental changes to ISO, aperature, etc. The AF was mostly accurate, but seemed slow indoors. When you go into live view, you will see the ISO and F-stop displayed. If you press the Fn. You can see the screen brighten and darken as you change. For the F-stop, just turn the dial.
