Updated February 23rd, , by Jessica Filby: There was a time when Terraria was filled with updates and countless items, but alas, all good things must come to an end. However, the end of a good thing can often lead to the beginning of an even greater game! Not unlike these new and extremely popular games that have either been missed by fans of Terraria or have only recently taken the PC gaming world by storm.
Terraria is one of the best games in history, and with its final update came a storm of new games that changed the face of gaming forever. Valheim has taken the gaming world by storm, coming out on February 2nd and setting the record for the most concurrent players , a title it took from Terraria. This wonderful open-world survival craft game allows the player to become a Viking warrior who must battle, build and conquer to bring order to Valheim.
Similar to Terraria, Valheim allows the player to collect countless items, fight unique and particularly challenging enemies and pretty much build what they want when they want, as long as they have the tools. It’s a game not to be missed, and one that deserves the hype it’s receiving.
Visually this game is extremely similar to Terraria and will provide fans with equally entertaining gameplay and building mechanics. Starbound is a game that drops the player into a lost in space story where they need to beam down to the planet below them, fix their ship and explore what the universe has to offer. If fans are looking for something different, this may not be the game for them as it will certainly feel like you’re playing a remake of Terraria. However, it provides a brand new and exciting experience that is visually pleasing and lots of fun to play.
Spiritfarer is a wonderful take on the acceptance of death and the process of grief. It takes the player on a journey as Stella, the newly appointed Spiritfarer. It is her job to take the dying to the Everdoor and say their final goodbyes to the world which leads to some emotional scenes as well as some beautiful gameplay. While not visually similar, players will find themselves seeing similarities in the way you build onto your boat and create objects , but it doesn’t involve any battles with eyes or worms.
While Scrapnaut hasn’t come out just yet released in March , it’s definitely not a game to be missed. As a new release, Grounded is by no means perfect. At the moment it doesn’t really have much of a storyline yet but is still a great choice to keep an eye on. Unlike Terraria, this game has a more in-depth storyline and an end goal, even if it may be unachievable or hard to do.
Grounded follows the story of a group or person who gets shrunken down in their garden and must create the science to make themselves big again. While dealing with the bugs and animals that don’t seem to like their presence much , it’s an enjoyable game that is perfect for friends who are looking for a new Terraria.
This is an extremely unique game in its aesthetics and its gameplay but will be a gripping challenge for any fan of Terraria. While Don’t Starve may not look difficult, players will undoubtedly struggle to survive and have to evaluate their approach to get food, light, and warmth all before sunset.

Similarly, it can be played with or without friends and will still allow you to build, fight, grind, and hunt your way to victory. Still in its early access phase , Raft has a lot of potentials and is a fully fleshed-out game already.
What most fans will love about this game is how open and easy to understand it is. It doesn’t have any fancy mechanics— just eat, fight, drink, and stay alive. Just like Terraria, it’s a game you can throw yourself into and let hours fly by.
Similar to games like Raft, Subnautica is a unique underwater adventure that will be rather different to Terraria but hopefully a welcome change. One of the best things about Terraria was its somewhat open world, and this is certainly in abundance here. The graphics and gameplay are second to none certainly make for an exciting and entertaining gaming experience.
It’s unlike most open-world survival games and is undeniably worth a try! If there’s one thing Terraria fans love playing its open-world games where you have to create to survive.

This is a step up from Terraria as it’s very “learn as you go,” but is still a wonderful experience to play with friends. And don’t worry, you can turn the meteor off if need be. The Survivalists is a visually pleasing game with a pretty cool premise that most players will enjoy. Just like Terraria, you can build, explore, and fight while still having the freedom to do whatever you please. Stardew Valley has captured the hearts of many and would be a wonderful game to start playing after Terraria. Especially since it’s so relaxing and simplistic with its take on grinding, exploration, and fighting slimes. Most gamers will enjoy Stardew Valley’s art style and gameplay loop. Fans of Terraria will undeniably have a great time living the dream as a farmer and uncovering the secrets of Stardew Valley.
