True Image is the better product for this task. Once you have an image saved to external storage with True Image, you have multiple opportunities to try different restoration methods. If the source disk was MBR then the destination disk will be also. Actually that drive is now MBR. I did that some days back and lost the data as I expected. I suspect that someone at Acronis thought this might get users to buy more licenses so that all these type of operations are only done on the PC where drives are to be used, but instead have alienated users by causing unnecessary problems doing what should be a straight one for one clone action.

If you backup DOS systems, nothing is changed with regard to the partition scheme used. So schema will be the same while backup! Ideally, any recovery etc should be done on the PC where the disk will be used but that would then raise other issues as all recent ATI rescue media wouldn’t boot on a DOS system!
